Gardening is more than digging holes in the ground. Over the years many gardeners have developed extraordinary insights and techniques for more effective gardening. This section is devoted to those insights and techniques. If you have an idea, insight or technique that works well and you are willing to share it with others, let us know. After we have verified it, we will be happy to post it here, thereby sharing it with others in the gardening community.

Pennies Protect Hostas

Create a flexible ring of pennies around your Hostas once they start to emerge in spring. The pennies have copper in them which the slugs and snails will not cross. Cheaper than snail and slug bait and eco-friendly, the pennies weather to a dull green and are easy to move aside if needed.
